Default importing/exporting MIDI files...

I'm having a problem loading MIDI files created on my MPC2000XL into PT sequencer, and vice versa. Has anyone had experience with this?
FYI, I'm using a Zip disk instead of floppy (does that make a difference?). I've even tried using an 'MPC convertor' that another member of the forum was kind enough to send me...still didn't work. Please help!
