I have recently installed a new MTRX Interface here in the last month.
1. My procedure was to always uninstall the previous driver with Terminal, restart,
2. Trash all the old prefs as well from PT.
3. Then I install the new Driver, restart.
4. Next I installed ProTool update. It then asked for the firmware to be updated.
I followed the instructions on the screen and it seemed to go pretty fast, probably five or so min or less for me.
5. I shut down the Mac as it said to after I launched ProTools and did the update. and also unplugged the Mac from Power for about 25 sec. just for good measure.
6. Lastly re-started.

Everything works fine so far and ran a 96khz session after I restored my prefs to what they should be for my room. I pushed the system pretty hard and usually run at 48khz, but had a project that was done in 96khz a few years back that I was asked to pull up and revisit for a client last week.
I did notice a CPU spike to red all the way up on the system usage line, but it settled down on it's own amazingly. That, when it happens, which is rare, seems to be better. I had more of those with 96khz sessions a few years back. I am also running a Mac Pro Trash Can Late 2013 64gb of ram and 10.14.6 Mojave.

Yea seems to be. I just took out the UAD card. Uninstalled protools again. Trashed prefs, went in to bios turned off LAN. Booted up, reinstalled, reboot, firmware update, and no luck. Hangs for about 40 min on updating card 1 of 1 then error

also had a pci-e card to hold storage m2 drives. Took that out and tried. No luck

how can i downgrade the firmware? I need to get up and running. Losing money

DetroitT : you think this could possibly have anything to do with my recent change to the Burl from the OMNI or am I just connecting that correlation? Seems like it shouldn't cause the interface is post the card and can be turned off to upgrade, but just considering everything.

No downgrade if you didn't upgrade.
Downgrade Pro Tools back to 2020-12.

If that still throws an error then may need to find another PC or Mac to get firmware straight.

However the firmware is for the HD native card not the DigiLink I/O.
Try launch ProTools holding N, have burl off.
Choose any other driver. So long as PTs fully launches.
Quit. Turn on Burl.
Launch PTs holding N now choose HD Native.
Continue as prompted.

BTW can you launch DigiTest?

Just seems super weird that it was working fine. I installed new software and it stops working. I do a system restore to previous day and still not working. Like attempting to upgrade firmware did something maybe?

Just ran digitest : DSI error 1171

Tried launching protools holding N but first thing that comes up is the firmware update prompt.

I did try updating the firmware with the Burl turned off too and it didn't work. I'm gonna try and take my pci-e card to another studio and update the firmware there.

Will digitest show firmware version?

Have you tried another PCIe slot? 4x?
