Cannot hear playback while in record mode.

Hi experts,

I am simply doing voice recording. One dry track no bells or whistles; however, when I came in today to try and punch record some audio. I am not getting anything in my headphones while in record mode.

I am able to hear perfectly in edit mode, and all other audio formats - music, video, etc. routed through interface is heard normally. I don't believe I've hit any buttons or changed any settings for this to stop working over night.

What I've done so far:
reboot (several times)
updated to LE 8.0.5 from 8.0.3
Went through optimization document and configured accordingly
tested from session directly on local hard drive as well as external drive both I was able to hear track during edit mode but not during record mode.

Setup:
Mac Mini
OS X 10.6.8
2.26 GHz Intel Core
2GB memory
ProTools LE 8.0.5

What are my next steps. From your knowledge is this a ProTools or audio interface issue?

what interface are you using?

Are you talking about not hearing the pre-roll audio prior to a punch-in?

Try toggling between input only and auto-input monitoring, Option-K.

I've also switched out headphones and headphone jack adapters. It just seems so weird to me that it would just stop working.

you have to make sure the output of the track is set to the audio interface your headphones or speakers are plugged into and not a bus.

Check.

Output of track is set correctly. I can hear playback of track during edit just fine.
