Default External Expansion cards and program changes.

Greetings,
I installed an Expansion card into my Roland XP80 workstation. When I select BANK from the MIDI channel and it gives me the list of patches for the XP 80, I do not see the expansion board that I installed.
My MODE selection says PROGRAMS and my BANK syas USER. The BANK has selections for PRESET A, B, C, and D-GM. I see no option for the card. How do I access the patches on this card?

Next question. I used Cakewalk for quite awhile but never ProTools. I want to insert a PROGRAM / PATCH CHANGE to tell PT that I want it to play a certain patch with a certain track. I see nothing in the manual on this. How do I assign a patch to a channel?

Thanks for any help.

Patch Select (Program and Bank chnges) is covered in the Pro Tools Reference Guide (the manual) in Chapter 25 (page 574 of the 7.3 ref. guide).

Pro Tools handles the patch names much differently than Cakewalk; it is definitely NOT an easy/instant thing to do, and it might frustrate you, especially with regards to using "expansion cards".

Using Patch Names is covered in the same chapter of the Ref. Guide. on the very next page.

Also, check out Roland's website or Google for the .midnam files required for the Expansion Cards ...you might get lucky.
