HELP! Dead Powerbook backlight!
Thanks for reading. Can someone point me in the right direction obtaining mac tech help (don't say apple.com). My Backlight isn't coming on. It just flashes once on the right side of the screen, and then just a really dimmed picture is visable. I'm pretty hands on with my apple repairs, I've torn it apart a couple times, down to it's components in order to fix hinges and the like, but I don't know if it's the backlight bulb, or the thing that tells the bulb to come on (inverter board, maybe). Any advice, or sites, or cheap parts would be great, as I'm broke, but depend on this beater powerbook for recording. Thanks, this board has always been priceless for help.

Re: HELP! Dead Powerbook backlight!
Had the same problem after picking up my ti book by the the right corner. You have to take the bottom off then look on the right hand side there is a very thin flat plastic cable it runs about half way down the side and terminates at a small connector, this connector supplies the signal to the screen and backlight make sure it is securely seated mine was actually completely off.You may notice that similar connectors have a piece of foam on them to keep them in place when the bottom is on to hold them in place.
Hope this helps |
