In 12.6.1 release notes:

Fade length settings from the batch fades dialog are now used when pressing the single-key "f" command to create fades (PT-218064)

This is still not working like it used to though... it's changing the shape and length of already-in-place fades when you just hit "F" even if in the dialog you told it not to. It's closer I guess? Bummer.

Bummer.

I'm still on 12.5.2 for the time being; won't move to 6.1 until Jan.

The fade issue does slow me down. I have to use regular batch fades instead of F.

hey jeremiah, if you have not trashed your prefs ... try that .. here is what i found ..

i was able to reproduce your Batch Fade replacing Existing Fades in 12.6.1 BUT when i moved Pt Version for testing (PT11,12.4,12.5,12.6, hence writing new prefs) it was gone .. now i cannot reproduce .. all works fine .. please try this .. john

Tried trashing prefs on 12.8 as we hadn't in awhile and still have to use the Command-F shortcut rather than simply pressing F. I know this thread is old, but what is the solution to this problem! It's changed my workflow to just use Command-F, but that's not a solution, nor is it faster.

Yes... seems to be permanently broken. I generally have to use cmd-F instead.

A possible workaround would be to use a macro utility to map "F" to "Cmd-F" but this would break your ability to use the F key when doing other tasks such as simply typing (!) so ... I won't be doing it.

What's odd is: someone at Avid explicitly coded it to behave the way it does. And it's not that useful!

Does anyone prefer the way it behaves now, as opposed to before?

Hold the presses... this just in, from the 12.8.1 release notes.

I'm on 12.7.1 for the time being, may upgrade next week.

Fixed an issue that prevented fades from being shortened with the "f" key or fades dialog (PT-209093)

Using the f key to invoke the Batch Fades command no longer fails to recall the last used Batch Fades settings (PT-226439)

Did 12.8.1 finally do the trick? I haven't upgraded yet, but have been experiencing the same problem since we upgraded our post studios to 12. I'd love to go back to hitting 'f' instead of cmd-f. Seems, trite, I know, but when one has to batch fade dozens of times a day...

Yep, fixed! It's a miracle.
