Omni Firmware update problem

i was guided to update the firmware of the HD Omni - which is 2.6 while current version is 3.0
i tried to begin the update but i got this message :

PROT 1 PRIMARY DEVICE PROGRAMMING FAILED : DATA VERIFICATION ERROR ON FASH DECTOR 0

I found this on the avid support forum for this problem, specifically if you ran digitest before the firmware update:

Restart computer and HD Omni.
Before running the Main Test on Digtest, update the firmware on the HD Omni.
After the hardware has been updated you may run the main Test.

My version and DigiTest is 2.1 (HD Omni with HDX)
where is 2.6 or 3.0 information?

I'll explain : I posted this post before I got the HDX card... I tried upgrading the firmware on the omni with my old accel system ,so the omni was not even recognized by digitest (it was described as a192)....current version is 2.1.... Don't worry... you haven't missed any version.

Been trouble shooting and and reinstalling....... for those pesky (On my system) clocking errors.

Digitest is what does the firmware update so what would be the problem

After all the firmware updates iv made I really got see the size of that rack. its gotta be a double bay at least

I Have the exact same problem with my accel system.., the digitest is not recognizing the Omni? From what I understand 2.6 is the old firmware with the noisey fan problem..2.10 is the newer firmware.. and after reading this post I can conclude that if you own and hd accel core system with the Omni there is no way to update your firmware unless you have the new HDX system??

2.10 is the most current version. Not sure about the HD vs. HDX thing.

Ok so I have figured out how to solve this firmware update problem on the accel core system with HD Omni

1. power down everything

2. disconnect the digilink cable from the back of your core card..while leaving the other end still plugged into the omni.

3. now with the cable disconnected from the core card power on ¥our computer
,when you see the home screen, shut down the computer.

4. plug the omni back into the core card...with everything off.. first power on the omni and do a factory reset under the setup options.

5 then trun on the computer.. you may hear a beep or a sound come from your computer on start up.. once everything is running open digitest.. and click the firmware update tab.. it should show the omni as the interface ready to be updated.. run the update... then power down the computer.. then power down the omni.

6. power on omni again then the computer and you should be able to run everything nice and smooth...


7. note: this worked for me with the latest PTHD10.3.6 update
