The Legacy Blue interfaces use the exact same protocol as the new interfaces. The ONLY difference (with the new interfaces) is the pinout and cable connection. Avid sells a a cable ($35.00ish) to make the old interfaces work with HDN & HDX.
So in fact they will work with HD 12. as it's been pointed out already - there is BIG DIFFERENCE between "Unsupported" and NOT working
Lynx,Apogee ,Prism etc all make "Unsupported" interfaces too.....

Yep.

I have one Apogee that shows up on PT as Avid HD interface. It does not support output mirroring like Avid/Digidesign hardware and has its own quirks, but Apogee's manual is very good and once you know how it works it's all good.

Totally unsupported by Avid, because it's a 3rd party reverse-engineered interface, but has worked great at least until 11.3.1 that I have.

And as said, the old digilink to new digilink adapter cable is totally passive so the only thing changed is smaller connector on the new cards/boxes. Which is great, because now one card can support two digilinks and HDN for example can use 64 i/o because of that.

You don't think AVID is going to change this do you? I mean, if they wanted to they could easily.

I know Apogee REVENG before, there was a lawsuit back in 2002 with Euphonix also, but maybe things have changed?

The scary thing is, with the amount of BOLD changes AVID is making is anyone safe outside of the AVID hardware?

AVID is worth about 500 mill? Hmm. Trading light.

I know they could easily drop all bluey interfaces and make life harder for 3rd party vendors, but they have stated they don't want to. They are not limited to supporting those boxes in case supported Avid HD interfaces need a firmware update that breaks compatibility, but it is their statement that they are doing absolutely nothing to deliberately break compatibility.

So yes, I trust they keep their word. And so far they have kept that promise. Do you have a reason to think that they change their mind with PT12 because the most natural change would have been to drop support with PT11 and leave the bluey interfaces to PT10 and earlier which the TDM cards are using.

Again; no, I don't think AVID is going to change this.

Oh goody, memes! That's just what this board needs, image macros instead of people actually discussing the thing we all came here to discuss.
