Default Re: Slate VMR on PT 10.3.10 and OS 10.9.5

I experienced many issues with Slates plugins in PTHD10. Mainly due to the RAM limitation. After I moved to PTHD11, all my problems went away.

My issues in PT10 were not consistent, but enough to make me just stop using them.

It was my main reason for finally moving to PTHD11, as their everything bundle is the best deal going, by far! Everything they make is amazing, and they are constantly adding and updating plugins in the bundle.

Dropping DSP processing just for Slate is a non starter for me. Way too many trade offs would be entailed.

I was on HD10 TDM prior to the move, I was able to make it work because I have a 12 Core MacPro, with HD Native, so I have not experienced any issues with latency.

I held off for a very, very long time. I owned HD11 since it came out, but never used it, due to being on TDM. Expect for a short period on my old mac pro where I briefly tried HD Native, but on that machine, no way I'd make the change then.

What Mac Pro do you have now?

My TDM machine is an 8 core Mac. Even with a bigger machine I still wouldn't be able to put anything on the master buss in order to hear an inspiring mix as I'm building the tracks. That is an aspect of our workflow that I can't live without. We also, when it's applicable, record live drums and need to listen to them in a way that inspires us and the drummer. That usually requires putting some plugins on the tracks and putting them through a drum buss which also has plugins on it. That would be quite difficult to pull off with a Native system. This also pretty much disqualifies any Slate plugins from being a part of this process. He long ago promised that he would make DSP versions of his stuff. That obviously never happened. It's just another unfulfilled promise that has come from him. I'm just not that comfortable dealing with a guy that is as full of it as he is.
