Default Time Compression Problems--Creates Blank Waveforms

Just upped (nervously I might add) from OS9 to Tools 6.4 with Command 8 and Panther 10.3.4.

Got an G4 867 with Gig of Ram so no problems there.

Everything works fine.....THEN I go to Time Compress (audiosuite) and try to compresss 2 tracks of audio from 65 secs to 60 secs...(again...performed this thousands of time with no problems on OS9).....It compresses fine...BUT my waveforms go away and I am left with 2 blank blocks. The only way I can see the Waveforms is if I zoom in ULTRA close. When I zoom out, it goes back solid.

I have the settings correct (create continuous file...entire selection...use in playlist...blah blah blah)

I have noticed that if you back out of the session and then go back in...they come back. This is weird.

Any ideas....sound like a memory issue, yet Digi tech support says no way to increase mem like in OS9.

I use this feature literally hundreds of times a week for the work that I do....HELLLPPPPP>

Thanks guys.

Jim

Hiya Tziolas,
Are we the only ones having this problem? I doubt it.
If no-one answers this thread I'll start another one.
CAN ANYONE TELL US HOW TO RE-DRAW THE WAVEFORMS AFTER A TIME COMPRESS/EXPAND OPERATION?

Hi,

Make sure you have Recpompute Invalid Overviews selected in the display tab of your prefernces. If this still doesn't do it try trashing your preferences, Go to Users > “your user name” > Library > Preferences and trash DAE Prefs, DigiSetup.OSX, Pro Tools 6.x prefs.
restart and run repair disk permissions on your system drive.
Let us know what happens.
Thanks,
Digidesign Tech Support

Well good news!!
I did indeed have the <Recompute Invalid Overviews> checkbox unchecked.
When I checked this box (and re-started Pro Tools!!!) my waveforms were all restored.

Thanks Digi Support Guy,
Jac.
