Default xw9300 and MIDI i/o

Is anyone using the MIDI i/o on the HP xw9300?
I'm on ProTools 7.1 cs7 HD3 accel / Windows XP sp2.

The MIDI i/o keeps loosing it's connection with the host computer.
The MIDI i/o is connected using USB.
The USB port is extended using the GEFEN extenders.
It's a 4 port extender.

DidiDesign in Japan has told us that this is a reported bug with the MIDI i/o when used together with the HPxw9300.

DigiDesign in the U.S. says that they've never heard about it.

Anyone have save experience?

Tomio
