I need to pay more attention to this one. I've used some of the Signature plugs such as drums and vocals, but not so much GRP.

Back to CLA MxiDown plugin. I think it's great.

You can do about the same with 3-4 plugins (SSL Bus Comp, Pultec or SSL eq and ie. Waves' Saphire saturation/distortion plugin).

But with only 1 plugin it's great deal. The eq bass is about 120hz up and high its 8Hz. I have tested this myself with meters (ie. Waves' EQ-Clone), the SSL bus comp is attack bout 20-30 ms and fast recovery, ratio 4:1. GR 3db max.

I like it!

Yeah I find a good parallel compression is better then standard comp plugs or as long as the actual multiband compressor is good quality (in other words it controls and pumps well when pushed not flattens)so much better then just flat out compression in my ears anyway I much prefer to use multiband compression over the bass and drums and the Mastering Phase aswell over anything else

Nice little video you put together. Would have been nice to have you bypass longer but thanks for sharing.

Thanks a lot Carl, I'll try to remember that next time, it all depends on the amount of coffee I've had before the original screen capture.

I think the 1st flavor is a SSL bus comp.

Do you know what is the second flavor? Want are usually the 2nd flavor setting?

CLA MixDown Plugin | Waves

Thanks for your answer!
Funny I went through 3 pages of replies here, and no-one went to the manual for the plug-in. It doesn't use the word "flavor", but for that 1-2 Glue switch it says:

"There are two compressor types:
• A modern, punchy compressor.
• A compressor with a longer time constant. It is good for holding the mix together."

So yes it's probably some emulation algo as well, but it seems the main point is the attack-release times.

They are straight emulations...of two of the compressors he uses on the master bus. Waves don't say which compressors are but CLA does in interviews and other places so everybody knows.

I'm starting to explore a more pop sound now in my songs (jazz don't pay bills!), this is a whole new world for me so I might ask you for some guidance in the future!

I think the reason Maserati GRP was originally mentioned is because one of its modes is a vwry similar Master Bus chain as well.
