Building a new pc... Case question/suggestions
I already bought a HAF case from CM but next year I am going to move the entire build into a rackmountable server case. To anyone who went a similar route I am looking for suggestions. I'm debating between Antec and iStarUSA. My investment is going to be $200 or more, there's a red iStar that has 6 hot swappable HD drive bays which I find nice since I will have 3 hard drives by then if I ever want to add more or do some crazy back up I can. I'll never need to hot swap so any easy hard drive installation works great.

Re: Building a new pc... Case question/suggestions
I don't trust my data with hot swap, but I cold swap a lot. Cold swapping saves me time on (n+1) backups, dupes, installs, downloads, uploads, testing. Highly recommended.
Mike. Edit: Oh, and I bought a Chenbro 4u rack case. Very happy with it - rubber grommets between the chassis and cages.

Re: Building a new pc... Case question/suggestions
If you are putting TDM cards in that case, make sure you have 13 inches clearance for the cards. Many cases have fan bays behind the PCI slots. If the fan bay or rack position is fixed, make sure you have 13 inches from the back of the chassis to the fan bay. The only other advice I can offer is to remember that server racks are often made to work inside noisy machine rooms. If this computer is going to be in the room with you while you are working you may want to plan on replacing the case fans with quite fans. They make a HUGE difference.

Re: Building a new pc... Case question/suggestions
I've built three iStar Rackmount DAWS. Tough stuff. I have always used the D400 series. The included power supplies have always sucked - at least the ones with the D400's did. Plan on replacing it with a Corsiar or Seasonic. Overall Very good stuff. Should last forever.
