Sold my Avid Omni HD Interface, does this affect my PT License?
Hello everyone,
I just sold my Avid Omni HD Interface via ebay. Now it hits my head that I initially had to buy this interface together with PT 12, as the hardware was inevitably connected to the software back in 2014. My understanding (and my hope) is, that this connection is no longer effective and I therefore do not necessarily have to own the Avid Omni HD hardware in order to keep my PT 12 license. Please let me know if i am right on this! (And if i just got me into trouble, how to possibly get out of it...) Thanks, 1s |

As far as I know you won’t have any problems, Avid should not even produce hardware, I use RMX UFX+ and Prism Atlas.

For the buyer you should be transferring ownership of the Omni.

Re: Sold my Avid Omni HD Interface, does this affect my PT License?
The omni is not tied to the PT 12 HD license whatsoever. I am selling mine as well as I am using the Midas M32r and love having mixing board and faders.
So I'm selling my Omni and PT native card and keeping my PT12 license. Whoever buys the Omni can't use it without a PT HD license.

Thank you all for your answers!

Could you get a bit into detail about how to transfer the ownership? There was a serial number on the box, but again I am unsure about how this serial might refer to my PT 12 license. Thank you all for helping me out here. Greets, 1s |

Re: Sold my Avid Omni HD Interface, does this affect my PT License?
Hi all,
just found this: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/FAQ/en363631 At the bottom of the page, there's a download link to an "Avid Audio Transfer of Ownership Form". So in my case i guess i will have to fill out this form and pay another 20$ for a "Service Transfer Fee". The new owner will have to wait a bit until this form is being processed and hopefully things are going to work out. Has anyone done this before and could let us know about his/her experience? Best, 1s |

Re: Sold my Avid Omni HD Interface, does this affect my PT License?
It is a straight forward action. Fill out the form. Pay the fee. The hardware will be registered in the new owners Avid account. Nothing more, nothing less. Takes a few but Avid will process per request so fill out the TOO and then wait for confirmation that the omni has been transfered.

Re: Sold my Avid Omni HD Interface, does this affect my PT License?
Hi Southsidemusic,
thanks for your reply. Would be great, if it was as straightforward as you said. Please correct me, but the way I understand it, the necessary steps are: - purchase a “Service Transfer/Replacement Fee” for 20$ - me AND the buyer have to complete the "transfer of ownership form", (which we both have to physically sign) - somehow submit the form(s) via a registration web case at avid.force.com/Support/RegistrationCaseCreation (which will cost another 70$ (!) because it takes an Avid Support Code to enable me (non upgrade-plan) to submit the form - wait up to 5 business days until Avid processed the transfer Doesn't sound too straightforward to me (and quite expensive). Can someone please tell me I'm wrong and it is in fact much more easy?? Best, 1s |

Is the Omni still under warranty? If not what’s the point in doing the transfer of ownership.

Re: Sold my Avid Omni HD Interface, does this affect my PT License?
Can't really tell. I guess it is about the drivers, maybe even authentification(?) to get this interface going in another studio. My "customer" says he needs the thing to be registered to him to being able to work with it.
