The issue you are seeing is that you have the option in general settings on for the Dock Automation Mode Buttons to follow the attention channel. Turn it off and the softkeys will follow your changes.

MANY thanks Eddie.

I understood the function of that preference but not the wide-ranging consequence of it WRT to re-programming the functionality of those keys.

All set now and happily seeing a hardware indicator of Preview mode. Less screen clutter. Greatly appreciated.
