Default New to PT.

Hello, I'm just having problems wrapping my head around how things are setup. All and all I'm only a few hours in. I'm working on getting PT12 setup on 3 systems at the same time. Main issue on my laptop is core balancing? Core 3 is fine but the other 3 are not really doing anything yet the main CPU is clipping. is there any way to get the core load to be more evenly distributed?

2nd issue, (Fixed)
On my main system, I'm getting instrument latency.
example: AD2 I see the hit and I see the meter jump but it plays late.
I'm using win10, a Tascam US-1200. ASIO drivers.

Thanks

PT has traditionally not been good at balancing the cpu load. That's why a number of people use VEPro 6 to host vi's and such. Just because one cpu core gets used a little more than others isn't a problem. Usually that middle core or two get used the most.

I don't understand what this VEPro that you speak of but I'll look into it. Thank you :)

This issue shuts my laptop down for any type of plugin use.
My old daw, SplatGibson could run at least 50 plugs with no problems.
I'm really liking PT but 3 plus and AD2 on PT and I'm done.
Are there any other workarounds for this problem?

VEPro is Vienna Ensemble Pro - it's a program that you can run your vi's and plugins in and it runs as a client/server model. Can be used on just one computer or two via an Ethernet cable between the computers.

What is SplatGibson?

Have you optimized your computer setup for working in PT? What exactly are your computer specs? CPU, ram, hard drives, etc. Do you have a separate drive for PT to record to? Computer requirements are more stringent for PT than most other daws.

What exactly are you looking at when you are looking for cpu balancing? PT's metering or something else? Nobody really knows exactly what PT's cpu metering is looking at or telling.

What else do you have running on your computer the same time you're working in PT?

Thanks for getting back to me. :)
I know I'm low on resources, laptop, Win10Pro, Alpha 1. 8 gigs ram. i5
lol, SplatGibson is Sonar Platinum / Defunct Cakewalk/Gibson brand.

I'm using the PT system performance view. like I said, 3 Waves plugs and AD2 and I'm getting cpu clipping.
Optimized the computer? Not really, is there a list? I'm thinking like turn off the WiFi and virus software? messing around in the bios? Can't think of anything else to do.

Thanks for the input! I tend to jump in and go! Sometimes I just need a slap in the head to get it.

Go to the "Help Us Help You" link at the top of this (and every) page of the DUC. Look for the link to optimize your computer. Find your OS and go through every last step to optimize it for PT.
