Default Re: WHEN IS LEOPARD SUPPORT COMING?!?!

For those that need to run Pro Tools on a new Mac Pro, and just can't wait for Leopard support, here is the way to do it.

System Info;

MacPro 2 x 2.8 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon
OSX 10.4.11
Mbox 2
Pro Tools LE 7.4cs2

How to:

1. You'll need to clone the drive off an Aluminium iMac - I used a 24" Aluminium iMac running 10.4.11
I used SuperDuper to clone the drive onto a firewire drive.

2. Boot the Macpro from the firewire drive, format the HD using Diskutility, then restore the (firewire) drive onto the MacPro using SuperDuper

3. Reboot the Mac Pro off it's internal drive. You can use a nice little app called "Change Short Name" to help clean up the system.

4. Install Pro Tools as normal.

*This system is not authorised by DIgidesign ( or even me ), so no guarantee's here, though I have it up and running in front of me, and there were no issues.

Hello all it's been a while! Let me start by saying I "normally" wait (mostly impatiently!) and generally stay just far enough behind the curve so that by the time I upgrade Hardware/Software all the problems have normally been sorted out. Not sure what happened in January but I not only upgraded my Macbook to Leopard but I laid out 3 grand on a brand new Mac Pro, Dual 2.8 quad xeon, 8-core and added a further 2 gigs of Ram for a total of 4gigs.
Of course I did this all before checking if PT's supported either which is so unlike me!!

I installed PT's LE 7.4 last night really as a trial and it "seems" to work a dream!!??** I say "seems" because so far I have only created a Test Session and recorded 2 Piano tracks using Velvet along with an "iDrum" re-wire track. Then I added a few string pads with Xpand and that was it I wen't to bed a happy man. Over the next few days/weeks I will do more extensive tests and report my observations.
Today (I don't know whats happening to me!) I ordered (2) WD Raptor 150g 10,000 rpm drives which I will use as my main Record Only Drives!! I also ordered a WD 1TB 7200 drive which will take up the 4th and last HD slot. This Drive will contain a lot of Samples and the larger files from "Strike", "Reason" etc!! I bought the drives from www.newegg.com as they were $100 cheaper than the nearest competitor (OWC-www.macsales.com) although Macsales.com do give excellent service & support and I have been a pretty faithful customer of there's but I have also bought from NewEgg.com many times in the past. Those drives will not arrive until Monday and I'll post my thoughts and observations if I can tear myself away from my new system. This upgrade replaces my "old" G4 MDD Dual 867mhz PPC so you can imagine how delighted I am !!!
cheers

Can someone please confirm --

Has anyone gotten Digi Core Audio Drivers to work on 10.5.2, when using a separate application, like Logic or Live?

Thanks,
Jon

Unfortunately, it does NOT work for me. Too many issues to list - noise, sound/no sound, weirdness, etc. Man, I wish Digi would fix this stuff.

Hi everyone. I am eager for PT to be compatible with Leopard. I wish everybody the best of patience, even if its REALLY REALLY REALLY hard.

I'm about to revert my new MacPro Dual Quad 3Ghz back to 10.4.x. This will ensure that Digi releases 7.4.x support for 10.5.2 later tonight.

DigiTechSupport - please stop me if there is a pending release!

Are you referring to LE or HD?

If it's HD - I can pretty much guarantee that 10.5.2 isn't going to happen anytime soon.

If it's LE - the release is coming soon, we just have a few more issues that need to be worked out....
