Default plugin question

I want to know what plugin is needed to acheive a certain sound that im looking for, the only way i can describe it is to give a song that i've heard it on.... Its kind of a computer/flanger type of sound, its most commonly known use was in that song "computer love" its mainly used for r&b vocals, its a wierd computer sounding effect, i want to konw what plugin is used to make this sound, i already have waves platinum edition but its not in there...as far as i know, also just give me some other good vocal effect plugins with wierd and different effects

I think i know the sound you're talking about - it's used on vocals and makes them sound a bit more robotic when the singer moves from note to note - an effect like this was used on that big Cher song (Believe) a few years ago..It's actually created from 'over-using' a pitch corrector like AutoTune - which is used to tune vocal pitch. There are also certain plug-ins that contain vocoders (like the Virus plug-in) or Orange Vocoder that emulate this...if it's what you're talkign about ..

The Cher "Believe" effect was apparently created by the Digitech Talker according to Mark Taylor (producer) in this article.

If you're talking about the song Computer Love by Zapp, that is definitely Vocoder.

If you're talking about the song Computer Love by Kraftwerk, it's just delay and reverb.
