Default Protools 8 HD reconnect hardware issue

Hello,

i have pro-tools 8 HD working on G5 mac-pro. Recently i by mistakenly updated my mac OS to OS X 10.10.3 and my pro-tools 8-HD stop working.

Whenever i click on pro-tools i get the error of please reconnect the hardware and click ok. I have C24 Avid along with I/O 182 and 3 processor card for pro-tools.

Please help me out in finding suitable solutions to make pro-tools work as i am in middle of an project.

Thank you

You need to restore back to the OS you had when it worked.

So if you have a backup drive, with the image of your OS that's one way

Also I believe Time Machine can backup but I don't use it, so I'm no help there

So what hardware do you have? OSX hasn't been working on a G5 after 10.5.8

If you indeed have a Mac Pro (not G5 PowerMac) and have upgraded your OSX to 10.10.3 then you have two options:

1) restore 10.6.8 system from your time machine backup
2) if you don't have one, re-install OSX from your Snow Leopard installer DVD and re-install PT&plugins.

There is no such thing as G5 Mac Pro. It is either G5 PowerMac or Intel-based Mac Pro. Just take a look at it. If it has one optical bay, it is a PowerMac and if it has two bays, it is a Mac Pro.

It would be much better to format the drive and have a clean system. Otherwise you might face lots of random errors that nobody can solve.

So... Backup your stuff, format the system drive (you need to be running the installer because you cannot format boot drive), install OSX and run all updates, then backup that operating system so it is easier to reinstall the next time you need it.

Then install PT and plugins, and copy your data back.

And, just as a safety move, before you start this, you might want to pull any other hard drives out while you restore/rebuild your system drive.
