EUCON Faders Off Command...

When using the Faders Off Command assigned to a key on the S3, it just turn off the S3 faders and sets them to ∞. If I then accidentally touch a S3 fader it will set the fader in Pro Tools to ∞ as well and silence the channel. So in reality it's just the movement off the fader that is off, not the touch function.

Is there a workaround for this behavior?

There are two commands to turn off faders: Faders Off and Suspend All Faders.

Faders Off is a Euconized command and can be put on a softkey on the Control App. You've seen what that does.

Suspend All Faders is a toggle switch in Eucontrol > General tab (look at the left column, a little lower than 1/2 way down.) This is the one that actually suspends the faders from sending commands.
Unfortunately it is not Euconized yet so you can't put it on a soft key.
