Default Suggestions for Desktop Mic Stands/Boom Arms

Hi All,

Doing the singer/songwriter-home studio thing. Using mics on boom stands is tricky as they take up a lot of space in my room and I play finger style guitar sitting down.

Any suggestions on good desktop mic stands w/short boom arm (Proline MS112, Gator Frameworks GFW-MIC-0821, etc. ) that will support the weight of an AKG 414XLS (10.6 oz.) or RODE NT1000 (24 oz.) mic?

Suggestions on boom arms (Heil PL2T, RODE PSA1, OC White) would also be welcome.

Thanks,
Danny V.

I second the K&M and will save you aggravation by telling you to avoid anything with the ProLine brand. It is, hands down, the worst crap ever sold(I bought 4 of their boom stands and by the end of month #2, they all went in the trash). For "budget" solutions, On-Stage is worth a look, but K&M is what you buy when you want it to last forever

I use a RODE PSA1 pretty much everyday. They are very sturdy, hold their position, very quiet, no exposed springs, and supports the Rode Procaster, SM7B, and any of the condensers I have.

Plus it comes with an insert if you want to drill a hole in the desk so you don't have to use a clamp.

If you want to spend more than $100 then check out the Yellowtec They are probably the best and cleanest looking arms around....but you're gonna pay for it (over $300)
