Upgrade Question: PT7 to PT9

So I just built an Intel i7 3.2 ghz machine with 6GB of RAM and installed Windows 7 64bit.

Everything seems to be running smooth on the new machine (haven't installed Pro Tools yet).

My old PC has PT7 LE on it and I'm in the middle of two recording projects.

If I do the crossgrade to PT9 so that I can install it on the new PC, will I be able to swap the iLok back and forth and still run PT7 on the old PC?

You can even leave your 7 assets on a separate iLok, and leave both rigs in Operation - I'd spend the extra $30.00 on another iLok for this.

Is your PT 7 enabled via iLok right now? I didn't think an iLok license was needed to run v7. I have seen some people on this forum reporting their PT8 license disappearing from their iLok once it was "replaced" by the PT9 upgrade.

that's a great question! it isn't on my iLok, just my plugins from the factory bundle. it uses the 002r as the "iLok". now i feel dumb for asking, but at least i feel better about getting PT9 installed.

So, in theory i shouldn't have any problems. *crosses fingers*

Sorry, i assumed you were on HD, thinking you had a v7 asset on iLok

v7 LE is Serial Auth, and will keep running - your PT9 Purchase will be authorized via iLok only.
