Default Input Gain Confusion

If I understand this correctly, (which isn’t likely) according to the Input Gain setting for analog inputs 3-8 in the Hardware Set-up, a +4 signal should be set to -14db. Does that then equal a Odb input signal?

Supposing that’s true, there doesn’t seem to be an input setting adjustment for optical inputs, so if I am entering ProTools directly from an A/D converter via ADAT with a +4 input, should I then record my signal at -14db on the mixer meter to archive a 0db signal?

Default Re: Input Gain Confusion

I think you are correct about setting a +4 siginal at -14 in the setup window, for the anolog inputs. If you are talking about adat type optical or lightpipe output levels from a convertor, mixer ect. they have a standard level and protools sets it automatically for you. No matter what your source signal is, analog or digital, set your mixer screen faders meters around 0. peace.
