Default CoreAudio, 002 and Logic

Looking at the FAQ for the CoreAudio driver, I'm unsure of the answer to this. Maybe someone here knows ...

I have a friend visiting from overseas next week and he happens to be more familiar with Logic (and has it on his Mac laptop). The CoreAudio notes mention that Logic Pro 6.4.1 is supported with the Digidesign CoreAudio driver. So ... rather than have him bring or obtain a separate mixing board, I'm wondering to what extent he can use Logic with the 002?

That is, can the 002 be used as a basic mixer as if in standalone mode? Will Logic see anything useful on the inputs, or can he only send audio out to the 002 (e.g., running iTunes through the 002 and out to the monitors)? Clues welcome!

You can use the 002R as audio interface with logic without any problem.
I think logic should see the 002R automatically - just select Digidesign HW in the audio hardware and drivers preferences.
Im not sure what you mean about running iTunes out of it. Im sure only one open application can address the 002R at any time.
good luck!

Default Re: CoreAudio, 002 and Logic

Thanks! To clarify, this isn't the 002R I'm asking about but rather the 002 console with the faders etc.

Regarding iTunes, I meant to write that I can play audio from iTunes through the 002 and out to the monitors (vs. using the PowerBook speakers). So I'm wondering then if Logic would also only be useable to play audio through the 002 (vs. using the 002 to accept input of at least eight channels, possibly more via lightpipe, etc.).

My suspicion is that I may be limited in "how" I can use the 002 with Logic, so I want to find out in advance exactly what those limitations are. Then we'll be prepared when he arrives with his laptop.

As a final clarification, yes - I'd only run one app at a time for use with the 002 ... not that there's any other choice, which is fine.

I've looked into this before and found that you should be able to use the 002's input and output but the control surface (faders, buttons, etc) will not work with Logic.
