Eleven Rack Buzz
I recently bought an 11 Rack Bundle from Sweet Water, comes with (Pro Tools/11 Rack) and it was working amazing for the first 3 weeks. Then it started buzzing on every setting, regardless of it the 11 Rack was hooked up to Pro Tools or stand alone. I contacted sweet water and they replaced it with a new unit, only it start doing the same thing. I've tried different outlets through out my house, guitar cables, guitars with no help to solving the problem. Here are 2 links, one a recording of before this started happening and one with the buzz.

Re: Eleven Rack Buzz
Can't help because soundcloud says it can't find the sounds and that maybe I was trying to look at a private file.

Re: Eleven Rack Buzz
Could you possibly try plugging the unit in somewhere else to rule out a bad power source?
I was in an apartment for a while that a couple of outlets had extra noise coming through. |

Re: Eleven Rack Buzz
I figured out the problem, as crazy as it is it was the light in the next room over causing it. Which I can't believe because I tried everything, from different locations and outlets, turning off the lights in the room, but it came out to be lights in a completely different room. My biggest concern now is this an electrical issue in my house, or a problem with the 11 rack itself. I've owned many units before and have never had such a problem.

If you really need help contact a local ham radio (amateur radio) operator near you and he or she will probably be able to help you really get this sorted. I should know as I'm one and I've had to solve any number of strange issues like you have. That being said I'd like to hear what the sounds are like but as I said earlier I can't because soundcloud says it cant' find the files. |

Re: Eleven Rack Buzz
Flouresent light? Was it on a wall dimmer? both of those can add noise. You might try a ferrite choke on the line cord. You can find them at Radio Shack. Its a big iron inducter you wrap the cord around. Some USB cables have them also. they are the ones with the cylinder on the built into the cable. Most of Avids interfaces have them.

Re: Eleven Rack Buzz
I'll re-post them as soon I get, as I had taken them down since the problem was solved.

The problem can be CFD lights or the dimmer or the combination. Get rid of the CFD. Stick a stock standard cheap incandescent bulb in the dimmer socket and see if dimming that causes noise problems, if so you can run the dimmer set at full brightness (that usually is quiet) or you can replace the dimmer switch with a non-dimmer switch.
Hopefully doing that will make it go away, if not other things may be going on. If so.... The noise may be being coupled through the AC circuit or via the guitar It's likely the AC circuit. If you are in the same breaker circuit as the device causing the electrical noise things may also improve by plugging into a different circuit. Also make sure the outlet and Eleven Rack are properly grounded. If things change as you move the guitar around them the boise is coupling via the guitar. You may want to check the guitar internal ground wire is in good condition and the guitar may need better shielding or switching to noisless pickups. Darryl |

Re: Eleven Rack Buzz
why don't you just get a Ebtech "Hum X", or a different product that does the same thing. This is a fairly common issue when doing home recording from what I understand.

This is likely much more a "guitar and guitar amp" behaving as expected (even of its a simulated amp with the Eleven Rack" than being specific to recording anything. Darryl |
