Default AAF taking wrong audio clip

Hello,

I've been working on an AVID project for a movie. The editor decided to swap from using media composer to Davinci resolve. The project is over an hour long. So I exported an AAF in AVID. Imported all the media in in Davinci resolve and then imported the AAF as a timeline. All the clips and the cuts are correctly imported.
But there is a big issue with the audio. The AAF took the correct length of the audio but not the correct file. It just seems to be taking random audio files and jamming them onto the timeline.

For example the video is the 2/1-3 and the audio is the 5/2-1.

Any ideas what it could be ?

I’m not really following your workflow here. Are you working in Resolve or in Pro Tools?

What exactly is an AVID project? What software are you using/editing in? Are you the video editor or audio editor/mixer?

There a possibility your metadata is getting stripped with all of these AAF conversions but it’s really hard to know with the problem description.

Thank you for your answer.

I was just working as an assistant on this project. The main editor got onto another project, and the new editor wanted to do everything in Davinci Resolve instead of Avid media composer. So I have to move the whole project.

I did this by importing all of my files in Davinci Resolve and then I exported the AAF in AVID to then import it in Resolve. The video is good but the audio is all messed up. At an uncorrect time

You might have better luck posting in a Media Composer or Davinci forum, as this is a Pro Tools forum. The issue you’re having seems more like a translation issue between MC and Resolve. One thing you try if you don’t have any luck in another forum is to export an audio only AAF from MC with the media embedded. Then import this into Resolve. Then continue cutting in Resolve with the combination of AAF media and the original imported media. This could get messy down the line but it’s a possible solution to your problem.

I don't know if it applies here, but recently I took in a film that was edited in AVID. Shot 4K, but edited with ProRes proxies setup by an experienced Assistant (for a very experienced Hollywood editor...my point is that this can happen to experienced people ). We were shipped source footage and 2 AAF's -- one for Color and one for audio. We were unable to link to the source footage in Resolve because ALL of the Source In/Out times were way off. Similar for sound conform -- conformed session made zero sense. Assistant had batch converted to ProRes Proxy and imported them into the AVID. That import process threw the source timecode off. We sent a metadata report of the original media out of Resolve as a .csv that the Assistant translated into an ALE. He then fixed the problem in the AVID and re-exported AAF's (both sound and. picture) and EDL's.

The new set of fixed deliverables worked! I was able to conform to Production Rolls with EdiLoad V5 and The AAF opened in Resolve for Color.

So, maybe do a little digging to see if the Source In and Source Out TC's look off from the TC in the Production Sound Files. If so, the above could be your issue.

If not, uh, I dunno!
