slow down session

I recorded a session at 44.1 that I'd like to slow down a couple of bpm, like using varispeed on a tape machine. It is clear that the pitch will go down, but that will be ok. Will I need a sync HD for this or can it be done without? My system is HDX with two Apogee Symphony (48i/o).
If this has been answered before, please post a link, I couldn't find anything. Please not that I'd like to avoid using EA, beat detective or AudioSuite rendering.

I guess what I am asking is what would be the most simple (and economical way) to get variable speed override (VSO) with my setup. Please note that my interfaces are 100 feet away from the computer with the HDX card, which makes physical integration of a sync I/O rather complicated...

Elastic audio varispeed mode is a simple DSP process. It doesn't artifact like is possible with the other modes. I use it weekly to stretch out 2.5 frames in the audio recorded independently to line up exactly with an hour long video.

Set all tracks to 'ticks' and slow down the bpm.

Ok, thanks everyone, I think I'd like to avoid EA because of drum phase issues. I haven't tried Serato yet, is it THAT much better than Waves Soundshifter and will it preserve Phase on multi-miced sources?
I still think VSO would be the most straightforward way to go, do I really need a sync HD for this or are there other external master clocks that will provide this functionality?

Elastic audio varispeed mode causes no phase anomalies. Varispeed is exactly the same as VSO only it's done with DSP not with actually slowing down the oscillator.
