Default Assertion line 481

Hey Pro Tools HD 7.4 HD2 CS10, G5, Duel 2 Gh, 10.4.9, 8 GB ram, This happens in punch mode.

Full message.

Assertion in "/volumes/development/vb_joplin/AltruaProts/NewfilLibs/CoreFoundation/MacBuild/../../sys/MacOs/Sys_FileUtilsMacOS.cpp", line 481 while deleting "Horn Rooms.01_19.R.wav"

With the OK button.

You get the pinwheel as well.

I don't want the general stuff. I want to know what this is. What is the Official fix for this not just random try this.

Looks like my set up is very similar to yours. I have 2 HD3 units both on G5 2.0 duals. 3 Gigs mem. One is on 10.4.11, the other is on 10.5.4. Pt 7.4 & 7.4.2.

I had a bunch of these assertions errors. Tried removing all plug-ins except stereo mixer- still did it. Deleted Databases/prefs every time, empty trash & reboot. Sometimes only lasted 5 min before crashing again. Tried recording to a second internal drive, firewire drives, even USB drives and they all gave Assertion line 481 etc. Even new sessions with no plugs were doing it. I did find some things that seem to help:

1. Never undo a recording during the session-You can delete the region on the screen but never delete it.

2. Never undo an AudioSuite plug-in in rendering during the session. Again you can delete it but don't undo it. Just keep the orig region on a play list and copy to a new play list and apply plug-in. That way you can go back to the orig and redo.

3. Never delete unused regions/files during the session.

After the session is done you can go in and clean up files/regions etc. Then save and quit PT. I usually save it to a new session file, just add -002 etc. Then use the delete PT database & pref util to delete and restore preferences.

Hope this helps.
