Default Anybody using a Yamaha DM2000 as a controller still?

I have the opportunity to pick up a DM2000 as part of a mobile recording truck that I am going to buy.

Is anyone still using a DM2000 as a controller for Protools? Does it still work in HUI mode in 2018.4+? I know it's not going to be as tight an integration as the Eucon stuff. But something is better than anything, right?

You meant "Something is better than Nothing"

We have a neighbour who use a Yamaha DM3200 which has the same connections as the DM2000 but more features and they have that mixer in a midi room running PT2018.7 Ultimate just fine. However you will have limited use of the mixer due to HUI protocol which works stable and does what it should do very well IMHO of course. In the beginning that studio actually had far far better stability than we had using Eucon and our 4 Artist series units but Avid has catched up with Eucon since those early days and now we use updated gear from the artist series days.

So sorry for the long answer BUT that DM2000 will work with limited functions as said due to HUI Protocol so if you get it at a good price then go for it.

Will two of them work in HUI mode with Protools cascaded together? If so, does it require two USB connections from each of the consoles to the computer? or just one since they are cascaded together?

That I can't answer as we have SSL console and never had a DM mixer.

I don't know if the guys I told you have a DM3200 knows either since they only have one unit.

Should be easy enough to google that question I would think or maybe someone else here can answer.

Are you sure that they have a Yamaha DM3200? I’m not sure they exist.
Tascam has a DM3200, works well with HUI, but I did a google search and did not find a Yamaha DM3200.

Sorry for the confusion, They actually have a DM-2000 same as he is asking about

I remember they did have a Tascam DM-3200 a year ago but now have a Yamaha DM2000.

Thanks a bunch for correcting me 29CountsNY and my scatter brain today (and most other days)

As for running a pair of DM2000's, HUI is only going to recognize 32 total faders, no matter what is connected. Not sure if it would work or not but it seems like an expensive control surface. 4 Artist Mix units could be had(used) for around $2000-$2400
