Default IRQs - Lower and sharing, or higher and by itself?

Hey all,

Question about IRQs:

I know that lower IRQs have priority over higher IRQs, but IRQ sharing can also cause problems with Pro Tools and Firewire devices.

I have a Profire 2626. My onboard FW card is a RICOH chipset controller, and I have been using it successfully until recently. I then purchased the Digidesigned approved SIIG Expresscard Firewire adapter to rule out my onboard audio, with some success in solving my issue.

Here's the scenario:
When the Profire 2626 is connected via my onboard FW controller, it shares IRQ 21 with the High Definition Audio Device, which drives the onboard modem and sound card. If I disable that device, the onboard RICOH FW controller (and by extension, the 2626) has IRQ 21 all to itself and shares with nothing.

However, when I plug in the SIIG FW card, I find that it shares IRQ 16 with 4 other devices (Intel 4 series express chipset, ICH9 Family PCI Express root hubs, Nvidia 9300M GS display adapter).

Which situation is actually more desirable?

Here's my IRQ report (note in this report, the RICOH FW controller is disabled, but would normally appear on IRQ 21):
IRQ 16 Mobile Intel(R) 45 Express Chipset Series PCI Express Root Port - 2A41 OK
IRQ 16 NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS OK
