Default Can't set audio drive to Record Mode - Please look!

HI Guys,

I know there are a few threads on this but I have searched and tried the fixes available--Please Digi Support can you cast an eye over this thread.

I'm currently using a Digi003 Rack with PT 7.4 and Windows XP pro. When logging on under the Admin Account I have no issues at all with opening pro tools or anything recorded in the audio drive. I can also record no issues.

When I log on under my user name I get an audio drive error:-

I try to set the audio drive to record and it states it's not a valid audio drive???

Not sure what is going on.

Cheers

Willo

Go to disk manager and make sure the disk is formatted "Basic".

Thank you for your reply,

I have been meaning to add to this as I have read a few fixes and all have been ticked off.

  1. The drive is formatted as Basic NTFS - I actually deleted the partition and re-formatted. No good.
  2. I deleted all of the Digidesign Database folders. No good.
  3. Permissions are all default. I have tried setting Everyone to "Full COntrol"
  4. As Administrator I can set the drive to record or transfer or playback.
This used to work under my user account.

Cheers

Willo

I only have one account on my computer(s) and haven't ever encountered this problem. You might try error checking the disk but I doubt that its going to solve anything.

It might be interesting to create a new user account and see if that changes anything.

I beleive there actually may be a command line command to repair disk partitions (or ACL's), I've seen mention of it but don't remember the command or the variable. It may have been DTS the mentioned it though. I don't have a immediate answer to this one

What are the read/write permissions set to for the drive? Right-click on drive and select Sharing and Security, then go to the Security tab and check the permissions for each type of user/account.

I am having the same issue. I've looked everywhere and can't figure it out. I just got a WD 500GB eSATA drive and the file system is FAT32. If I try to open a new file, I get its "formatted as a FAT volume", so I can't change the A or V to R. Am using this on a Vista system. I can pull up old projects, just can't open any new ones.....

Actually your problem is different Airborne.
FAT 32 is not supported in Vista Pro Tools. Your drive needs to be formatted NTFS. Backup your files and reformat the drive NTFS Basic.
