Default New freebie from Native Instruments - Kore Player

http://www.native-instruments.com/in...?id=koreplayer

I finally got a chance to install this today and it's got some really nice sounds for a freebie. It took a while to download, though, since it's about 500 megs and their server was moving at a snails pace. Either way, free is free.

Oh Noooo...not another sample player! Oh well, it's free so whatever......bought time NI gave something away free....last time they did that was with Dynamo way back when. Wait a minute....does it come with sounds already in there? They're giving this away for "Free" so they can sell samplepacks for it.

It comes with a decent amount of sounds for being free. I think it's a pretty good business model to give something like this away and then sell content for it.

Yeah, I DO see now that there's over 300MB worth of samples in there so I'll give it a go after I do my Tiger and 7.1 to 7.3 upgrade....but the system requirements are awfully hefty at 1.8Ghz. G5.....and G4 PPCs arent even mentioned. Starting the trend where eventually G4s will be phazed out of the testing process.

Really nice piece of SW for Free ... however, even with a decent DSL connection, it can take way too many hours to complete the download.

I was gonna ask if anyone was even able to get it! I've submitted info 3 times and gotten 3 different download links emailed to me, none of which actually work, they just go to 404 error pages.

I had a similar experience but got it 4th or 5th time. Both this and a pitifully slow download when you do get through (6 hours on 2Meg Broadband) don't exactly inspire confidence. Alas, it is a freebie so I suppose we shouldn't complain.

Finally got the download to start this morning after trying probably 5/6 tries over 3 days. Two links actually expired. It's still progressing after 5+ hours at a rate varying between 13KB on 90KB/sec over broadband - a good connection on dialup would be just as fast. I imagine the response to this offer has been pretty overwhelming. It was in their newsletter last week, plus it's shown up on some well populated boards. Keep trying.

I was able to get it the first time I tried but it did take quite a while. With it being such a large download, their servers are probably getting hit hard.
