Default S6 MTM noise

Hi,

just wanted to check about this(somewhat)minor but annoying issue I've had since day 1 with our S6.
The MTM constantly make a high pitch acoustic noise, almost like crickets.
It's extra loud before I lock the Xmon to the S6.

My studio isn't overly quiet but I can still hear the MTM noise in the background.
I'm surprised that that a high end product like this isn't more quiet especially when a lot of the consoles are installed in extremely well built and quiet rooms.

Pretty sure it's not my unit that is faulty since I've had it replaced two times and all three units have had the same type of squealing noise.

Do all MTM make this noise?
Here's a recording of the noise from my phone.

I'm going to defer to Eddie on this one. I honestly haven't heard any complaints about this in the field for a very long time.

There are a few things that can make noise on the MTM. The fan could not be switching off after booting into the MTM App (Easy to hear and see), The SSD has been known to have components go noisy...but most likely its the heat pipes making the noise, this can be heard if you do CPU intensive stuff on the MTM the noisy will change. This last one is not fixable unfortunately.

Thanks for the info Eddie.

It's not the fan as that shuts off after boot.

The heat pipes. What noise would they make? Noises when they change temperature?
Does not sound like metallic noises due to temperature changes.

Sounds more like some sort of "data flow" for lack of a better description.

Maybe it's the SSD? Maybe that's in more or less constant use between the S6 software and the Windows shell?

Are there different hardware revisions of the MTM?
Any changes over the years that could affect this noise issue?

Here's a better recording of the noise:

Do you hear that on your S6s? Quite audible within a foot or two from the MTM.

There have been many revisions to the Master Module but none in that area. If you are under support you could ask Customer Service

No your MTM should not sound like that. Might be the ssd. Send it in and get a replacement. FYI make sure to get your files of the MTM before the RMA swap
