Default 002r Clipping

I'm getting some weird clipping issues with the 002r. I'm going from an external preamp into the line in for channels 1-4 and am getting a weak signal, as soon as I turn up the gain on the 002 it spikes and clips with really harsh clipping noises. Anybody experience anything like this or have any advice. Much appreciated.

Hi Robert,

Line in 1-4 still go through the preamp. You should use 5-8 and set the level with the external pre for the best results.

I'm not sure if setting the mic/line switch on the front panel avoids the preamp, but if you have it set for mic instead of line, that could be the problem as well. That being said, you should try to use 5-8 as the previous poster said..

Hey Dave,

The 1-4 signal goes through the pre regardless of the switch position. Beware of the -10, +4 switch when using the line-ins, too. A pro preamp will require that it is set to +4 to avoid a nasty level mis-match and distortion. Running a preamp out into another preamp set to mic is the worst mismatch of all, as you suggested.
