Angry Really upset with maudio/avid company

Ok, lets start from the beginning.

I used to have FW_V32_5.10.00.5054v2.exe drivers installed for my M-Audio Firewire 410
and never had a major problem until recently with not able to go to 192-kHz for some reason.
I was using it under the Windows v7 x64 ultimate os,
this OS can also install x32 bit programs as it handles both x32 & x64
because the OS is an Ultimate edition of the OS.

The moderators at M-Audio forum informed me to install their latest drivers to fix my problems.
So i checked to see the latest drivers to find out new drivers where posted
for my operating system version.

(on a side note)
I was also having some issues with sluggish system, so...
I went ahead and formatted my C: drive
just to start fresh again for the new year.

I installed my Windows v7 ultimate which has x32 & x64 built right into it.
of course after backing up my important data.
ok with that said,

After installing a newly fresh installed Windows v7 x64 ultimate,
I installed the latest drivers for my Firewire 410 unit which is,
FW_6_0_1_5_10_0_5058.exe

and of course did the usual setting up like I always do for my Firewire 410 audio system.
["and here is went problems happens."]

the FW_6_0_1_5_10_0_5058.exe after installing it, wont recognize my FW-410.
I tried everything in the book and even called m-audio about the problem.
I even went to the forum and been waiting for weeks for a proper response.

now I am sitting here with a dead system, not able to do any music what so ever.
I can't use Protools or any other DAW in my system.

And now it wont let me "revert" back to my previous drivers I had before.
When I try to reinstall the original drivers which was,
FW_V32_5.10.00.5054v2

it wont let me. - So now I cant go back and I cant use the new drivers.
And I feel like Ive been screwed.

M-Audio has this:

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.contact

and

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=...3a29b87e9a0093

I rechecked and rechecked to make sure I have the exact drivers I needed.
and of course "yes I do" have the correct drivers.

it just wont install properly and wont recognize my FW-410 unit.

Im sitting here for weeks with my FW-410 blue light blinking non stop.
and its seriously pissing me off.

So I am Really upset with maudio/avid company
and I want a solution now, because I am really tired of this
and im very angry about it..

I am screaming at myself and asking myself "Why in the hell did I buy a M-Audio product?"
If there was another audio product I could have used other than M-Audio to use with my Protools
I would of been purchased it and threw the FW410 in the garbage after slamming it with a hammer.
I wish MOTU could be used or RME cards.

I can not afford 192-I/O - I wish I could afford it, but I can't.
and everything else that goes with it, such as PCI's and stuff.

And I dont like the Digi-003

If I can not find a solution to this crappy FW-410 garbage,
I will have no choice but to sell my Protools v8 and throw away the M-Audio FW-410
and move on to something else.

M-Audio can never get their products work right,
and everything they sell is garbage.
nothing but problems with m-audio products and I regret even buying anything from them.

As much as a PITA it would be, I would completely start over again and install the 32 bit version of windows and install the older driver for now simply cause you're not alone with the m-audio driver issues and windows 7 64bit systems. I realize you had W7 64 bit running but obviously there have been alot of issue with it so that's why I'm suggesting the 32 bit version at the moment.

I understand,
AVID should let Protools that are not HD version, to be used on any audio system cards/units.

I feel like I am being strong armed here.
only use M-Audio or don't use Protools at all.
that is not fair at all to any of us.

We should not feel tied down to just one audio device..
Again - I am not talking about Protools|HD.

I am talking about all other Protools softwares.
We should be able to use any audio card we customers see fit.

But no - instead I am sitting here with this piece of garbage m-audio FW410 unit.
and strong armed to use it.

I bought the FW410 because the way it looked and of course, it was the only
unit I can use for Protools without buying the HD version, which is way too rich for my blood.

The truth is that AVID is a Hardware company so obviously they want you to use their hardware. Pro Tools is just the software that they developed originally for us to use with their hardware. This started in the 80's with SOUNDTOOLS. It was a Mac system that was all about hardware and has developed into what we all are using today as Pro Tools HD. It's just like Apple to Microsoft. Apple is primarily a hardware company, where as Microsoft is primarily a software company. Doesn't mean they don't manufacture the other though.

Well, times have changed and I am hoping that AVID realizes that,
and lets their users/customers use any audio device we see fit for our use
with Protools LE and the Protools M-Powered edition.
because whats happening right now is just not working and only pissing off customers.

You do know that the mackie onyx "i" series is approved with avid if you buy the driver for 50.00 bucks. I'm thinking of going that direction for tracking. NEW EDIT: Here's the link: http://www.mackie.com/products/onyxiseries/drivers/

Well it's 16 channels of pres and eqs going into pro tools then you can switch it to post to 16 channels out after pro tools from what I understand without using a 003 adat bridge. I think that is sweet. 16 Live tracking into a LE system. OOPS M-Powered System.

As far as other companies, maybe AVID is starting to let others in the door.

I would hope AVID unlocks the chain so people can use any Audio Device
( Including their own Computer internal sound that as of this date can handle 24-bit/192-kHz too ).
for use with Protools LE and M-Powered.
That itself would be a blessing from god.

I myself don't need all those those outputs or inputs from the mackie, well that many..
I am a remixer, I either only use one input at a time for a mic,
but the rest of the time, I receive accappellas from the label to remix.
I do not do any live groups or such.

Its just me and the artist or just me with the accappella.

Which means, I use everything within the DAW domain
and rarely very rarely use any outside source.

this is why I don't need that many outputs or inputs.
this is another reason why I bought the FW410.
because it was what I needed, just exactly enough of outputs and inputs.
but not so much.
Plus it has XLR and quart inch and RCA and SPDIF and Optical, plus 2 head phones outs.
And the looks of the unit I really liked a lot.

Did not want to go the FW Solo route.
because it was and still is not my style.
and the 2626 was too long and odd.

I was looking at this:
http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/ultralite-mk3

and this:
http://www.motu.com/video-products/v4hd/

But here I would lose out on the extra head phone and a few other stuff I have now.
Also, for that price, I just minus well buy Ableton Live Suite v8.1.1

the FW410 was also purchased because sometimes
once in a blue moon, my very close friend would come over and record her vocals and guitar.
(I never charge her, because she been through hell in this business)
Plus I know her for a very long time. She is my best friend anyways.
and in my studio and the FW410 was perfect.

I will definitely look into the Mackie,
because it sound interesting and I am hoping it does not have so much
havoc with their drivers.

but again for that price, I will just get Ableton Live Suite v8.1.1

But will be asking as many people that I can, that use it - about it
and what they think about it, would be my next home work.

If it comes down to it, I would just dump Protools all together and just go with Ableton Live.
and be done with all this havoc about stupid drivers & proprietary audio units , and just worry about music.

I moved to Protools because Propellerheads "Record" which also embeds "Reason within Record",
can not do VST's or VST instruments.
And I got tired of their crap, so I dumped Record & Reason.
But now I think I would have to do the same with Protools and just go with Ableton Live Suite v8.

Which will piss me off and make me forever hate AVID because I invested so much on
Protools, iLOK, Plugins and everything else.
Let alone that all my remixes are inside Protools now,
and many of my private songs are there too.

So basically I feel screwed by AVID here.

So here I go again, moving to something because the current DAW is giving me way
too much headaches.
Because of their crap about having to use proprietary hardware and driver problems with them.

Quote:
And by the way, I am currently in the middle of a remix which has a deadline, for a record label, that I can not finish.
So my remix is stuck inside Protools and I can not get to it. - and I am getting really pissed about that too..
I can not be going through this every week, because AVID / M-Audio can't get their crap together..
