BradonX

"The videos are all digitised on a Mac using imovie or FCP. DV Digitised with MovieMaker look fine. "

"I'm using QT 7.0.3"

I know that Digi says that QuickTime 7 isn't supported on Windows. You may want to roll back to 6.5.x. It could also be a display driver issue. This is just a guess. If you have a chance see if it makes a difference.

Same problem here too with Quicktime 7. However, I think it's a problem with Quicktime since the same thing happens with Nuendo. DV movies created in FCP look fine when viewed in Quicktime standalone (with high quality enabled in movie properties). However, in PT it seems as though the "high quality" enabled switched is ignored when the movie is loaded. Interestingly enough, in Samplitude, the movie property settings ARE interpreted. For example, if I open the movie in Quicktime standalone, uncheck high quality in movie properties, save it and load into Samp, it is played back as such. If I turn high quality back on and save the movie and reopen the same session in Samp, it looks great.

Hi manichouse,
I'm not trying to argue with you but the only thing I see on the compato docs is:
Quicktime 7 is not supported with the digidesign wave driver. This means using digidesign hardware with to play audio on a quicktime movie. Did I miss something.

Hi Brandon,
I think you were referring to Milli Vasilli's post... nonetheless, I agree with you. Digi's docs only warn against QT7 with the wave driver. There is no mention of compatibly issues with QT7 and movies within PT. In fact, if I remember correctly, it only states QT 6.5 or above (which leads me to assume that QT7 should be fine).

manichouse,
Sorry, I did mix you up with Milli Vasilli's post. My mistake.

Digi, about 4 people are having the same exact problem with PT. Can you find this bug and fix it. I'm not really able to work fully in 7 yet and 7.2 is on the way. Thanks for your time.
Peace,
Brandon

Yes, we're working on this - there may be some changes that need to be made in Quicktime to fix this. We're looking at the latest version of Quicktime to see if it's working properly with that or not.

FYI, I've tried reverting back to older versions of Quicktime... including 6.5 and 6.3. Same problem... the "high quality" setting is ignored when viewing a Quicktime in PT.

Same thing happens in LE. I've been ranting about this on both the LE and Post-forum.

My best option now is to use h261 codec.
(The others make PT stop with an interrupt error for no obvious reason)
