Default Waves Bass or Vocal Rider

I'm trying to decide on whether to buy the Waves Bass or Vocal Rider; both seem like great, time saving plugs. I'm just curious which gets more use in your mixes, or do they both get used in everyone?

If I can come up with another $29, I'll most likely buy both (Vocal n Bass), before the $29/plug sale ends.

There are a couple others I'm interested in, like Renaissance Bass, Kramer HLS Channel, maybe one of the SSL emus or the WLM Plus Loudness Meter (altho I think there are a couple decent free versions out there that I'm drawing a blank on. The Rider plugs are at the top of my list since I don't have anything like them. Are there any other companies that make a similar plug that's worth checking out?

Thanks.

I’m a fan of vocal rider. Use it all the time.

If you can only get ONE, go for vocal rider (assuming you need something for vocals)

Vocal Rider has an MSRP of $249

Bass Rider MSRP is $99

Bass Rider goes on sale more often than Vocal Rider, so if you miss it, it will come around again soon.

And don't forget, you can use a referral code to save an EXTRA 10% off the sale price.

Bass Rider saved me big time with an unruly DI bass, I'm sure Vocal Rider will do the same even though I haven't had the need yet. Benoni makes sense here, get both but prioritize the one that goes on sale less often unless you have a real need for one of them right now.

Actually the engineer that mixed Billie Eilish’s album uses Vocal Rider as part of his vocal chain.

If I recall correct there is a Puigchild 660, a deeser, Fabfilter Q3, the UAD 73 and the VocalRider, not specifically in that order. Plus some generally track automation rides.

Actually he used a 670 and Inflator and S1 bla bla but who needs to know that really?

Billies music is the worst angst crap ever released and makes everyone depressed. And it is not that special and remember her brother Finn does 85-90% of everything on her ”music” Not Rob!

This is Not aimed at you Simon, just cause you happened to bring up Billie hehe

But hang on, isn’t the 670 the stereo unit?? If we’re talking a lead vocal “chain” wouldn’t that be predominantly mono, until you start stacking the doubles and creating a bit of spread?!? Either way, the fundamental is the same.

Yeah I realised it’s not aimed at me dude. My daughter put me into her though and I like a lot of the production values. Haven’t delved much into the lyrics, but I think she does have a misleading way of writing, possibly. She seems to use dark analogies that would make you think she’s writing about something when in fact she’s not. I’ll have to check them out again, though.

Indeed, though, it’s Finneas that is the brains behind the production, Billie just does the lyrics and vocals. At this point anyway.
