Default Need software for Mbox 2 Mini / Mac OS X 10.6.8

Have Mbox2 Mini which came with a defective software disc for ProTools 8.0.3 LE. After researching Avid website, it seems that 8.0.3 is not compatible with my Mac OS X 10.6.8 anyway. Supposedly ProTools 8.0.5 will work with my Mac version and can be downloaded for free, but requires a previous installation of 8.0.3 which I don't have because of the defective disc. How do I get an installation/upgrade under these circumstances?

Also Avid lists ProTools 9.0.5 as compatible with my system. Is this a better choice?

I'd be THRILLED just to get the drivers for the Mbox2 Mini without the full ProTools program since I plan to use Garageband anyway, but I'll take what I can get the easiest way to make the Minibox work.

Question Re: Need software for Mbox 2 Mini / Mac OS X 10.6.8

Thanks Don. I downloaded the appropriate software that you indicated, and the green light on my Mbox2 Mini lights up. I REALLY appreciate your getting me this far after I've had hours and hours of dead ends.

I hooked a CD player up to the Minibox. Earphones connected to the Minibox confirm that the sound is getting to, and going through, the Minibox, but I can't find any way to recognize the Minibox in the computer and import into Itunes.

My Mac's Finder indicates the following from TODAY's download:
Mbox_2_Mini_Driver_v90_69596.dmg Disc Image
Mbox_2_Mini_Driver_v90_69596-1.dmg Disc Image

And also present are:
Mbox2 Mini Driver v 9.0 Volume (a modification) dated Jan 10, 2011
Mbox 2 Driver 9.0.mpkg Installation package dated Oct 24,2010
I assume these are left over from attempts previously to install Pro Tools
with my defective installation disc.

But also right-clicking today's drivers (or the desktop icon depicting an external device) refers to the modification date in Jan 2011 with no reference to today. Did I get the right stuff?

Do I need to do something with Preferences/Settings? The installation process didn't take me there if it was needed, and I'm not sure where to start nor how to choose any settings. Is there a difference between Settings and Preferences? Once set up to work does something need to be clicked to activate the program each time it's used?

There was no Setup Guide in the original package unless it was on the defective original installation disc. Perhaps Avid has a clear step by step download for this also? Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

Import into iTunes via the MBox? That's not exactly possibly by hooking up a CD player. You have to record the audio in a recording software. There are no files transfered over audio cables.

Smile Re: Need software for Mbox 2 Mini / Mac OS X 10.6.8

After a little tinkering with my system settings, Mbox2 mini is up and running. I've successfully imported into Garageband, and burned a CD to test it all out. It's been a real hassle getting it all the correct info I needed, but once I had that, it was pretty simple to make it work even for a non-techy like me. Can't wait to get into some of the "tweeking" to produce some really nice soundtracks for church. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!!! Richard
