How do I sync PT8 LE with my DV Camera?

Hi there,

I'm wanting to record a movie with my Sony Digital Video Camera.( HDR-SR11).
I would like to use Pro Tools for tracking the dialogue so I can use a decent shotgun microphone.
Is it possible to somehow sync the Pro Tools recording with the footage from the camera?
There is a mic input on the camera.

I was considering trying just trying to see if I could sync it up manually by importing the video and moving it about but it just seems a bit amateur.

Is there a smarter way?

or

use a clapper board, record into pro tools, resync audio with picture in your editing app, and hope you don't have too much drift. You could also use the camera audio, however bad, as a guide to resyncing the audio

This seems like a really basic question, so I fear I've missed your actual question

There isn't any sync option, if that's what you're asking.

To reiterate Postman...

Record crappy on-board audio to the camera -- while -- recording good audio to PT.
Use the camera audio as a guide when you import the video and conform the PT audio to that.
