* There are two types Vegas Mode/Test Mode to test the hardware.

Vegas Mode -
MC Control + MC Mix
Press Bank L + R and Nudge R + Left Shift key... Then Power up your system! ...and you are in Vegas Mode.
Every unit test separately with fader movement...

Test Mode -
MC Control + MC Mix
Press Bank L + R and Nudge R + Left Shift key... Then Power up your system! ...and you are in Test Mode.
There is no fader movement, but you can test tactile and lamps effectively. To reduce the mechanical part of the Fadernoise, there was a suggestion on Gearslutz to put together a fadermovement type Vegas mode and let it run for a couple of hours to partly reduce the noise.

Yes it's very helpful. In it's own "about" box though, it stresses that there may be more copies of certain files, and manual removal may be necessary.

I can verify this as it misses the file on my system here:
