secondary hard drive, solid state for both system and audio.

For kicks, just tested using the system drive instead, same behavior.

Thanks guys, keep the thoughts coming. I'm stumped

Did you turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off in BIOS?

LatencyMon should indicate what is causing the most delay. Can you post a screenshot after running it?

I did not, let me grab complete results and check those and re-run. Thanks

Can find latencymon results here

http://visitor.doylemusic.com/

I've ran several times and before/after some changes that were proposed. Word doc has screenshot, txt file is dump of stats tab.

I'm not seeing where to disable Wifi. Doesn't look like my mbo has that or Bluetooth from what I can tell, but still looking.

This appears to be the culprit:

"Highest DPC routine execution time (µs): 1343.80930
Driver with highest DPC routine execution time: ndis.sys - Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS), Microsoft Corporation

How up-to-date- is Windows? There was some issues last year with a different Windows driver, but an update after July 26, 2019 fixed that.

Hmmm, 1909 is the latest version of Win 10. Im on that. My Network driver is
dated 1/24/2019. Version 12.18.8.9.

When I check on Asus site, the driver version they have is even older (2016).

W10 1909 is just the version number, you also need to look at the build number. For example, my laptop is 18363.778 under Settings>System>About and under Settings>Update and Security KB4549951 was installed April 15, 2020.

You'll have to search the web for the issue that ndis.sys is causing, I've never had that in LatencyMon. I also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Disabled in BIOS on my Audio computer.

My build is also 18363.778 installed on 12/8/2019. KB4549951 was installed on April 15, 2020.

FYI - I did submit a case and finally heard back from Avid. They said "it sounds like an issue with an old bug PT-211368". Potentially something with my HDX card. Waiting to see what their resolution is.

I'm sorta leaning that way as I don't get the weird audio when I change from HDX to Windows as playback device as opposed to HDX.

I will look more into the wifi/bluetooth but I don't believe those are options on my MBO based on checking bios and reading through the manual. I'll also look further into ndis. Thanks alot!!

Hey, just wanted to report back on this in case it helps anyone else.

I opened a case with Avid. After getting through first couple layers of support they focused in on something with my PC hardware combination, drivers, windows version. The issue I had was reported previously and tweaking with the before mentioned versioning resolved it.

I went through several changes, methodically to try to get it figured out. Rolled back NVIDIA driver a few versions, one at a time. Rolled back Windows to 1903, Rolled back PT HD Driver.

When I got to 2017 version of NVIDIA driver the audio would work for a short while, say 30 seconds, but then the distortion would return (both on BTD and record).

Finally I moved my GPU to a different slot and now things are working. I honestly sense that simply moving my card may have solved it, but I'm afraid to change any driver versions, etc

Anyway, thanks Weed for the help and hope this helps someone else.

I'm back on 2020 PT HD Driver
Windows 1903 Build 18362.778
NVIDIA Driver 378.49 from 1/20/2017
Intel Ethernet Driver 12.17.7 from 9/29/2017
