Default Using Flash Media in Mix/Edit Mode...?

Hey all,
I teach PT classes to music majors at a university, and I have noticed that many of them can bypass the "drag session folder to desktop-work on project-drag back to flash drive," in short, work on their projects directly from the flash drive. I have also noticed that Belkin FDs seem to be unable to do this, but I have not been able to find concise info on the success or failure of specific drives/brands to allow for this. Copying a 50+ MB session folder twice in a class period eats up a lot of work time.
I have read posts that recommend NTFS formatting over FAT, and, of course, USB 3.0 over 2.0. Our workstations have only 2.0 capability, but, again, it does seem possible.

BTW, our student projects rarely run more than 4-6 tracks, usually max 2 audio. We do NOT record to flash drives- this is something upon which I do insist.

With your help, I'd like to compile a list of flash drives, along with their attendant success/failure stats.
