Default Audio Dropouts

Anybody getting these in PT11 HDX?

Lately every 10 or so minutes I'll get one, or even a few. Annoying when I'm bouncing as the dropout gets recorded.

I'm using a mix of AAX and AAX DSP plugs, several outboard using either analog or AES hardware inserts.

Using a Mac Pro 8 core Westmere with 32 G Ram

From the Reference Guide. Are these the type of errors you are hearing?

The Ignore Errors During Playback/Record option determines how Pro Tools responds to error re- porting from the Avid Audio Engine (AAE) during playback and recording. This can be useful when working with instrument plug-ins where you care less about clicks and pops in the audio signal while you work on composing and arranging. Once you are ready to work on the final mix you should disable this option. Observe the following guidelines as to whether or not to enable or disable error suppression:
• Enable error suppression only if you are experiencing frequent errors that are interrupting your creative workflow. When error suppression is enabled, you can experience a degradation of audio quality. However, this may be acceptable in order to avoid interrupting playback and recording when working with instrument plug-ins.
• Disable error suppression when you need to ensure the highest possible audio quality, such as for a final mix.

Thanks Park

No. I have error suppression un-ticked.

When I'm playing back a mix, there will be a sudden dropout on a fraction of a second and then the audio will continue. The dropout is within Pro Tools as it will appear if I hear the dropout during a bounce or RTD.

The entire session drops out and not just tracks going to outboard.

I had this problem with new PT 10 HD versions (10.3.2 and up) as well as PT 11.01 HD

Ok, What external drive are you using? What OS version?

Does the dropout happen at EXACTLY the same place or is it random? Any bad cables?

any buffer - 64 to 1024 all have the same issue. The drive is the one that comes with a mac pro. Not sure which. never had problems on earlier PT 10 HD.

Maybe my HDX cable to the HD IO is messed. Its a long one - 25'

I'd try another cable and another drive. That way we can eliminate those if we still have problems.

Just make a copy to an external FW drive to try.
