Default "Yay, PT11 is out and I am MIXING to my heart's content!"

Thought i'd start a thread that *isn't* all about how useless PT11 is without having third party plugins to use for it yet.

I'm planning on upgrading to PT11 once the next update us released, and damn it, i plan to MIX with the thing. I use rack reverb and compression and am perfectly happy with the stock standard EQ's that come ITB.

I don't give a tinker's cuss that I can't use BFD or waves plugins in whatever just yet. I just want to mix what I've been recording and utilise PT11's (reported) new powers for big, big mixes and offline bounces.

Is anyone else in the same boat? Is anyone else happily mixing with PT11 and *not* miserable that their beloved third party plugins just have to stay with 10.3.6 for now?

*Postscript: Yes, I know I misplaced an apostrophe in the thread title... and I'm stuck with it now!

I LOVE 11 and have mixed several cuts for the show I write for. A beautiful, wistful violin piece is up for Monday's show. Recorded AND mixed with all stock plugins. And yeah, I am thrilled with the sound! Most important so are my producers!

Well, not exactly MIXING, and admittedly I'm between gigs right now, so this is mostly for fun, but I just imported an AAF from my last feature and am playing around with it. Quite happy so far, and the few plugs I do have access to are proving to be very capable at mixing dialog and cleaning up tracks.

I also upgraded to Media Composer 7 today, so I am having a very good tryout of the video engine. Nice, tight sync to my client monitor via Black Magic card. Excellent and responsive, so far.

Very very happy so far.

I just finished 3 mixes with only Avid plugs and I'm very happy with the results! EQ7, ProCompressor, ChannelStrip, ProLimiter and D-Verb of all things!

We don't need no stinking 3rd Party Plug-Ins.

Just want to say that its nice to see a thread about what can be done.

Many are still waiting for thier favorites but so far here 11 seems pretty stable.

I'm digging it so far. Luckily my most important plug-in (Metric Halo's channel strip, and the rest of their bundle) is available for pt11. I was trying to get by with the stock channelstrip, but I didn't realize how much I prefer MH's until them.

I'm still wanting to get Slate's plug-ins, but am getting along just fine as is. And non-realtime bouncing is fantastic. Even on my ancient c2d MacBook Pro. :)

CME - u like the MH pretty well? I will have to check it out. I LOVE the pro limiter. So much nicer than maxim. I also like what Will said above - the poor craftsman blames his tools...music from day one has been SI/SO in my world; having worked with Ross Hogarth, David Leonard, both Chris and Tom Lord-Alge, that was our mantra. Some of our best mixes had little to no EQ.

It's not favorites as much as it is just having the tools we used to work with available. Right now for composers PT11 isn't a viable item. For mixers - maybe to yes.

Really not viable for composers? How so?
