Default Re: Mac Pro (Late 2013) GPU Issues

** UPDATE **

So, Apple replaced the logic board, which did not solve the problem. They then decided to switch out the second graphics card. I guess there was some confusion initially at the repair shop over which graphics card to replace. A or B. The first time, the shop replaced "B" but the Apple engineers had specified "A". So, I just got back the MP today with a new graphics card "A". In summary, over the last 30 days the MP has received replacement parts for Graphic cards "A" & "B" and a new Logic board.

Crossing my fingers that the issue has been solved. I'll report back after a few days of running this thing through its paces.

So, I had numerous crashes over the weekend and spent a number of hours on the phone with Apple. They sent off more of my log data to their engineers for review but also started the process for approval of a new Mac Pro. I'm supposed to hear back Tuesday.

***** UPDATE - Hopefully, the last one ******

So, Apple did decide to replace my Mac Pro, and since they no longer offer the Quad-core configuration they upgraded me to the 6-core. I have received and begun the installation. So far there are no issues. Hopefully it remains that way.

They couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.

I'm running 10.12.5 with PT 12.8 and aside from a few PT bugs, the system is running great! Very happy with the new system.

I've been pushing it hard for the last week and it hasn't fallen over at all. So, I'm thinking the last unit I had was the issue and not the Mac Pro design overall.

The Apple Store i kept taking my Mac Pro for repairs to kept delaying and apparently making things worse as they damaged some parts on it. I complained and complained about their incompetence and they replaced my base 4 core D300 Mac Pro with the new base model, the 6 Core D500 Mac Pro. I've been pushing this new one for the last 3 weeks with games, Logic Pro X and other apps without a problem. I gotta say, the inconvenience of the trouble i went through with the first Mac Pro appears to have been worth the free Mac Pro update because this 6 Core machine is AMAZING for Logic Pro X. So much so, that i bought a 1TB External Drive (Samsung T3) and i have begun recording in 96khz and converted some of my older projects to this sample rate as the plug ins do sound better at higher sample rates. If you are looking for an Audio workstation computer, Mac Pro will serve it's purpose for years to come and i couldn't be happier.
