Metric halo released the 2882 in 2000. They are releasing a USB 3.0 card for it sometime soon. A good design is a good design and shouldn't be abandoned just because.

Since this happened I have not purchased a single Avid hardware product. Nor will I ever again unless this is rectified. I had previously spent upwards of $100,000 on Digidesign/Avid hardware.

Whenever asked for recommendations, I always find 3rd party companies that make excellent hardware for my clients.

This is probably the same for many ex-customers.

It's why Avid are so desperate to sell subscriptions these days.

same here - For mastering I work in Pyramix for the last 15 years anyway, but switched to Nuendo for music production now. PT is just there to convert client's sessions to AAF for compatibility.

But here is the honest question: What other surfaces are out there that would non-AVID? That's a real problem. For studio and orchestral work I need a controller with 24 faders and a real meter bridge. not the stuff that the artist controllers call a "meter bridge". Honestly: There is nothing out there. Or am I missing something?

Presonus has what a 18 channel CS - I don't know if it's lived up to expectations but it's the only other one that I know about

That and a SSL, but they are pretty pricey
