Default Slaving desks

Hi there, a bit of an unusual one here. Is there any way of slaving two profile systems together so they run as one console but with the stereo muted on the backup desk?

Many thanks

JC

You can add modules to a D-Show, however, the Profile doesn't work like that. The best you could do would be to run stems out of one digitally into the second Profile, however, I suspect that isn't what you are after.

Hi Roland, thanks for the speedy reply. Unfortunately you are correct, I am looking to try and run two systems as a main and backup desk with one being slaved and mirroring changes from the master. It's fairly unecessary I must admit, but I've been asked to look into it.

Wondering out loud here.... VNC *client* on one console, the host on the other.

Perhaps the CAN Bus connector on the rear of the surface could be used to link the 2 systems together.....Or maybe this CAN Bus connector is used only by AVID as a service port.

Hi JC,

There isn't a 100% way to mirror two consoles, but folks have found an acceptable workaround. The following workaround works best if it's a heavily scripted show, using snapshots.

Basically, a common show file is load on two separate systems, and a MIDI connection from the primary to the backup is used to keep the snapshot sequence in synch between the two systems. "Real time" mixing moves (fader adjustments, EQ tweaks) after recalling a snapshot aren't sent to the backup system, so there's a chance the two systems will be slightly out of synch if a switchover needed to occur, but this has been considered preferable to not having a backup at all.

Sheldon
