Default PT 8 does not see Axiom Pro in MIDI controller window

I just purchased and hooked up an Axiom Pro 61. As I understand it, the device should be an option in the MIDI controller window, but all I see are Command 8, HUI and Motor Mix. I am confused about how to get the device seen by PT 8. Thanks for any help you can provide.

How did you go about installing the Axiom Pro with OS X? Did you simply follow the Class-Compliant driver instructions?

I don't think I even saw that option--I have a feeling I definitely did not install it properly, but according to the Quick Start guide, you literally just plug it in since I am using Mac OS X 10.5.6.

Is the device showing up in the Mac equivalent of PC's Device Manager?

Now the keyboard IS triggering my MIDI modules--I just don't have any Pro Tools control.

You shouldn't have to add it to the Midi Controllers list.

If you create a midi track or instrument track and go to the input for the midi track or the instrument section on instrument track, does it show up as axiom 61? It should just by having it plugged in and ON before launching Pro Tools.

You can default the Axiom by turning it off and then holding + and - while powering back on.

Make sure USB connection is direct into the Mac and not into a keyboard or hub of some kind, try switching USB ports on the Mac.

And if still not working trash the Digidesign Databases off all Drives in the root level.

Trash the file at
Mac HD/User/yourname/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.bunchofnumbers.plist

Mac HD/User/yourname/Library/Preferencescom.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist

Mac HD/User/yourname/Library/Preferences/DAE Prefs (folder)

Mac HD/User/yourname/Library/Preferences/Pro Tools Prefs.plist

Thanks, it IS showing up in the MIDI list when I make a new track. I had assumed when I saw the demo that the transport controls for Pro Tools on the Axiom would just work--is that not the case? Do I have to load some type of Axiom template for that to happen?

However, Pro Tools is not recording the keystrokes from the Axiom--it is triggering them but when I go into record it is not recording.

Some more things to try, have you updated the Axiom Pro Firmware?

Drivers and Software>Keyboard Series.

Next thing to try is installing the Axiom Pro HyperControl for Pro Tools Personality. Pro Tools 8 has this built-in but it's worth a shot.
