Default Project mixi/o, dead or alive?

Good morning DUC. I just read another post about Pro Tools 11 using the M-Audio Project mix I/O and according to the op it's working fine! I abandoned my PMI/O quite a while ago because I could never get it to work with PT's 9. So, am I now to believe that if I upgrade to PT's 11,(or for that matter 10), that my old PMI/O will again be functional? I've always detested working with a mouse and when I open the closet where I keep my collection of deceased M-Audio/Pro Tools Interfaces that no one wants or has any use for, I still miss it's ease of use and functionality. Can anyone here please offer help on this? Before I put it away I loaded the latest drivers, etc. not even Sweetwaters tech support could help! Thanks in advance for any replies.

Been using my Project Mix I/O from PT7(M-Powered) to PT10.x & PT11, still running….
What problems were you having in PT9?

bradch00. Thanks for your response. I bought the PMI/O way back when I was using PT's 6.8, It worked great. Then I upgraded to PTs 9 when I learned I could use just my mixer as an interface. I was pretty ignorant at the time about Pro tools and computers in general. I'm still no expert by any stretch of the imagination. I consulted Sweetwater tech support and they could not get it to work with PT's 9. Currently I'm using PT's 9.0.3 with a Focusrite 2i4. I neglected to say I'm on a pc. Win7, 32bit. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks Gems Records for responding. Are you perhaps on a Mac and not a pc? I'm starting to wonder if that may be my problem.

So you want to use your Focusrite as the interface but use your PM/IO as a control, yes/no?

I've been using my PMIO on Windows 7 with Pro Tools 11 just fine. Last I heard from M-Audio, the Firewire Series devices (410, Project Mix, Ozonic etc.) were not going to be getting any more driver updates. Lately they've just been posting that they aren't saying either way. There definitely isn't a Windows 8 or OSX 10.9 driver for those devices though.

Your control surface settings are completely separate from your audio interface settings, so you should be able to use the PMIO control surface with your Focusrite as your audio interface. The only issues I've ever heard of are incompatibility between two M-Audio devices on the same pc.

Drivers and support for those devices stayed with M-Audio. Avid only retained the USB devices in the sale of M-Audio.

This is my understanding as well, sad but understandable I guess as it's a little long in the tooth… I got mine when they came out and had it mod'd at Black Lion (when they did that mod)… made a world of difference… will hate to give it up when that one OS update happens that renders it a conversation piece.
