Default Re: Blackmagic Desktop Video Software v10.1.1 Update

Another day of audio video work and everything is smooth. By the way my 20 quarters offset is the normal offset for my post production sessions.

Since I installed PT12.6 at the same time as the new 10.8.1 BM driver, I can't really know if it would still work well with PT 12.5.2 .

There are a few bugs with PT 12.6 and I would love to keep my options opened.
I will try to install the BM driver on my previous system drive (with PT 12.5.2) when I have spare time and see...

I identified a bug when using Pro Tools HDN 12.5.2 or 12.6 under OSx 10.10.5 with Blackmagic driver 10.7/10.8/10.8.2.

When I play DNxHD36 Video (25FPS), then after 6 seconds, there is a minor, very short stutter in the video and sync is shifted about 1-2 frames between before and after the stutter. It repeats that behaviour every 6 seconds.

I tried BM driver 10.4.2 and 10.4.3 and those versions don't show that glitch.
Also, with the older versions, CPU usage is about 20% lower!

Has anybody else noticed that??

Hi
We normally work with PT10, because there are no video problems at all.

Today i gave a shot to Protools 12.6 as I do with every new version.
I can confirm this bug!
Video gets out of sync after a few seconds and gets worse.
It is random. Somtimes after 2 seconds, and sometimes later

I just tested BM 10.7.1 driver.
No time to test any old drivers for now.

Ale

I haven't noticed a regular stutter, but I have had inconsistent sync with the latest drivers as well (and I'm on Windows 8.1). Interestingly, it seems to cause more problems with desktop video than with what's coming out of the BM card. The last driver I know was stable for me was 10.3.7, but I haven't tried that with PT 12.6 yet.

I've noticed bugs similar to that description, among others. Any driver past 10.4.3 has been a failure to me. What BM hardware do you use?

I got a conversation about the bug with Blackmagic support and they told me, that it is reported to the development team and should be fixed in a future driver release.
In the meantime they recomend staying on version 10.4.3.
Let's hope that blackmagic is fast, because 10.4.3 causes errors in PT video engine from time to time.

Cheers
Maik

There has been lots of issues since driver 10.5.0 and the response has been pretty much the same;
"It is reported to the development team and should be fixed in a future driver release. In the meantime we recommend staying on version 10.4.3."
But I agree, let's hope..........................

Anybody tried bm desktop video 10.8.5 yet?
I run one PT 12.6.1 HDX, BM Intensity Extreme on El Capitan 10.11, BM Desktop Video 10.6.7, having sync drift. 10.8 Versions so far don't work (no Video Playback.
Another PT 12.6.1 HDX, BM Intensity Extreme on Yoesemite, using Desktop Video 10.4.3, as mentioned in several posts. No sync Drift, AVE is stable.
Downgrading OS to Yosemity in Order to run 10.4.3 would be a big project for me
Thanks for letting me know.

I haven't tried 10.8.5. I am on El Capitan PT12.7.1 and I'm running BM 10.8.1. I was running it for awhile with zero synch issues until for some reason I got issues on one particular show. I'm working on a series with the exact same workflow so it wasn't a different codec or anything like that. I tried to go back to my trusty 10.4.3 version but that didn't seem to like PT12.7.1. So I just re-installed 10.8.1 and everything is working fine again. Not sure what at all. 10.8.1 is the first version since 10.4.3 that actually works all the time minus that one incident. I'll be curious to try 10.8.5 but it is amazing to me that BlackMagic can put all all these versions between 10.4.4 and 10.8.1 and none of them work (and I've tried every one).
